Guided by what is termed in biophilic design the ‘Savannah effect’—the ‘best of both worlds’ situation where you are perched above an open landscape, yet on the opposite side, protected and secure— the house is divided into 2 sections: public and private. The public areas are perched over the slope with full-height windows taking in the second-to-none views. The private side is tucked back into the earth, sheltered and protected.
The central circulation is lit with a clerestory that also pulls in the cool breeze coming down the hills to counter the afternoon sun.
Focused around the clients’ love of nature and the outdoors, the house is designed to take it all in. It is a home to inspire dreamers; a mountainside reverie.
